Our Policies

PJE Veterinary Consultancy Ltd is a privately owned veterinary company which trades as PJE Home Vet. PJE Home Vet is a mobile veterinary service which serves the mid Essex area. Contact with this company is by phone or website via our contact form. Clients are visited in their own home where examinations and treatments take place. At no time are animals seen at either our service or registered addresses. Any changes we may have to make to our services will be posted on our website.

Payments, Pricing and Estimates

We aim to keep our prices as affordable as possible. To help us to do this we will ask you for payment at the end of the visit or when treatment is completed and we will provide you with an itemised invoice. For in depth treatments and procedures we can provide you with an estimate before work is started and we will make every effort to keep to the cost quoted.

We accept credit/debit cards and cash. Unfortunately we are not able to accept cheques.

Not all our prices or proceedures are on our web site as some will depend upon how far we have to travel to you, your animal's history and whether the visit is in our routine working time or out of hours. We will discuss prices with you when you book your appointment.

We reserve the right to refuse to to see the animals of clients who owe us money or who are persistently slow to pay. These clients will be informed of this decision in writing.

Whoever requests that a particular animal be treated will be held responsible for the cost as they will be seen to be acting in loco parentis for the owner.

We consider our immediate area to have one of the following postcodes:

Areas outside of these postcodes can still be covered by us but may incur a surcharge.

Sunday 9am - 11am

We manage our own out of hour's service for our registered clients. Should you have an emergency with your pet outside of our normal working hours and we have to come out to visit you the visit will incur a surcharge depending upon the time of day, the distance travelled and the treatment your pet has been receiving from us. Please refer to our price list in "What we do" for further information.

Registered Clients

A client is considered to have registered with is when we have visited and treated or health checked their pet/pets.

Emergencies, Hospitalisation and In Depth Proceedures

We endeavour to offer both you and your pet a full veterinary service which meets the needs of you both. However there are some procedures, diagnostic investigations and long term hospitalisation that cannot be performed in a mobile surgery. Should your pet require any of these then we would discuss the matter with you and take your pet to a supporting surgery or alternatively a surgery of your choice should you have one.

In cases where specialised treatment is required again following discussion with you we would refer your pet to a specialist in the appropriate field.

Prescriptions

In line with RCVS regulations prescription only medicines can only be given to animals in our care i.e. they have been registered with us and seen recently by us. In appropriate cases repeat prescriptions can be given without seeing your pet however these cannot be issued indefinitely and we would need to see your pet for a prescription check at various times during a long treatment.

We are able to give you a written prescription should you wish to go to another source for the medication. It is your responsibility to ensure that the source is reliable as we take no responsibility for any medication that we do not issue.

Insurance

All insurance forms will be dealt with quickly and forwarded to your insurance company. It is your responsibility to submit these forms to us so we can complete them. There is no charge for this service but a stamped envelope addressed to the insurance company is required. All costs for work done under insurance must be settled with us directly. It is the insurance holder's responsibility to be re-imbursed by their insurance company.

Absent Animals

Animals needing to be seen must be present at time of visit. If an animal is not present at the given address at time of visit a consultation charge will still be made.

Complaints

We make every effort to ensure that both you and your pet receive the service from us that you both require. However should you feel that this has been lacking in some way or you are concerned about something please contact us immediately and we will work with you to sort this out.
